Progress is advancing at the Pendinas Distribution Service Reservoir (DSR) being delivered for Hafren Dyfrdwy, part of the Severn Trent Group, with the scheme moving closer to completion following a series of recent milestones.
Since the last update, the internal fit-out of the DSR and its valve chamber has been finished. All feed pipework has successfully passed pressure testing, ducting along the forest access road is complete, and waterproofing to the roof is nearing completion.
Works have also begun at Pendinas Water Treatment Works to provide power to the new DSR, a key step towards bringing the asset into service.
Commissioning has been delayed due to an extended dry period, which has restricted the availability of water supply to the new reservoir. While conditions improve, the team is continuing preparations for commissioning.
Once operational, the reservoir will provide 2 million litres of treated water storage, improving storage capacity and strengthening network resilience for local communities. The project team thanked Hafren Dyfrdwy and subcontractors Stonbury, Larminie, Alpha Plus, JB Fabrications and TISS for their ongoing support and collaboration.
