Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has launched a recruitment drive for Civil Engineering Assistants (Professional and Technical Officers), aiming to bolster efforts to manage, maintain and improve infrastructure across Northern Ireland.

The competition will create a number of permanent, full‑time roles at multiple locations within the Department’s Transport and Road Asset Management Group and the Rivers Operations and Development Directorates.

Successful applicants will support a broad range of activities, including project design, site surveys, preparing engineering drawings and contract documents, supervising construction and maintenance, traffic management, and the management of infrastructure assets. The roles also contribute to the Department’s response to severe weather and flooding.

Announcing the campaign, Minister Kimmins said: "Our Civil Engineering Professional and Technical Officers deliver an important role to communities across the north. Their work supports the maintenance and improvement of our flood defence and transport networks.
