Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has appointed Jacobs AECOM as the Programme Delivery Partner (PDP) for MetroLink, marking another significant step towards the construction and delivery of Ireland’s first metro system.
The appointment follows a competitive procurement process and will see Jacobs AECOM work directly with the MetroLink team to manage, oversee and coordinate the project’s construction, integration and commissioning phases.
The Programme Delivery Partner will provide construction and engineering oversight across the project, with responsibility for helping coordinate its delivery within the agreed budget and timeframe while maintaining required safety and quality standards.
MetroLink is planned as a 19km high-capacity, high-frequency rail line connecting Swords in north Dublin with Charlemont in the city centre. The scheme will include 16 new stations and is expected to provide a journey time of around 25 minutes between north Dublin and the city centre.
The appointment was welcomed by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien, who said it demonstrated continued progress on what he described as one of the State's most important infrastructure investments.
"This Government is committed to transforming Ireland's public transport network through sustained investment in high-quality, sustainable infrastructure," he said.
"The Programme Delivery Partner will be an essential component in providing construction and engineering oversight, helping to ensure that MetroLink is delivered efficiently, safely and in line with international best practice," the Minister added.
Anne Shaw, CEO of the National Transport Authority (NTA), also welcomed the appointment, describing it as another important milestone for the MetroLink programme.
"By bringing together world-class expertise and experience, the Programme Delivery Partner will play a critical role in supporting the effective planning, design, and delivery of a modern, high-capacity public transport system that will serve our communities for generations to come," she said.
Jacobs AECOM will now support TII and the wider MetroLink team as the project progresses through its construction and delivery phases.
