Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that a £220,000 carriageway resurfacing project on the A29 Desertmartin Road, Moneymore, is now underway.

The scheme will extend for around 450 metres, between the Jungle NI premises and Glenquilly Road.

Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the A29 trunk route which will deliver significant benefits for road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the works via lane closures managed by traffic signals. A mandatory 40mph speed limit is in place and overtaking will be prohibited.

The Department has scheduled the works and traffic management arrangements to minimise disruption. While steps have been taken to accommodate local access, road users should expect some delays, allow additional time when travelling near the works and comply with all temporary restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are expected to be substantially complete by Friday 30 October 2026.
