Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £300,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the C0663 Kevlin Road in Omagh will start on Monday 28 September 2026. The project includes approximately one kilometre of resurfacing and localised drainage improvements, covering the stretch from Sunningdale to Dergmoney Heights.

Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment of £300,000 road improvement scheme for Omagh. will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To enable safe delivery, temporary traffic management will operate from 28 September to 29 October 2026. Overnight full road closures will take place on weekdays from 28 September to 16 October and again from 26 to 29 October, between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Daytime full road closures are planned on weekdays from 19 to 23 October, between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm. Daily lane closures will also be in effect on weekdays from 28 September to 16 October and from 26 to 29 October, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

During closures, signed diversions will be in place. From the U3001 Sunningdale junction, the route will be: C0663 Kevlin Road – C0663 Kevlin Avenue – A0005 Great Northern Road – A005 Dublin Road Link – B0048 Dublin Road – C0663 Ballynahatty Road – C0663 Kevlin Road. From the U3032 Dergmoney Heights junction, the route will be: C0663 Kevlin Road – C0663 Ballynahatty Road – B0048 Dublin Road – A0005 Great Northern Slip Road – A0005 Great Northern Road – C0663 Kevlin Avenue.

Local access will be maintained where possible. Traffic from the Coolnagard Estate will be diverted from the Coolnagard Roundabout to the signed diversion as works progress. Residents within the works zone will retain access/egress, though short delays may occur depending on activities. Access to Sacred Heart College will be available via Kevlin Avenue and Kevlin Road from the John Street approach. Townview Avenue will remain open at all times via access from the Dublin Road and should be used to reach nearby retail and business premises around the Townview Avenue/Kevlin Road junction.

Motorists are asked to follow all temporary traffic restrictions and drive with extra care near the works to protect both road users and the workforce. While operations and traffic management have been planned to minimise disruption, some delays are expected; drivers should allow additional time for journeys and comply with all instructions.
