Energia has unveiled a Commercial Solar service for Irish businesses, adding solar PV and battery storage to its portfolio through a partnership with Ohk Energy. The move marks Energia's first entry into commercial-scale solar installation.

Under the model, Energia's key account managers support customers from initial enquiry to project completion, while trusted partner Ohk Energy provides the technical design and installation. The launch follows growing demand from Energia's business customers for on-site renewable solutions.

Ohk Energy brings extensive experience in the commercial and industrial market, having delivered single-site solar projects exceeding 4MW and large, multi-technology schemes that integrate solar PV, battery storage and HVO generator solutions with a combined capacity of more than 11MW. The company employs over 300 staff across hubs in Monaghan, Dublin, Galway, Mayo, Cork and Tipperary.

Ciara Hayes, Product and Service Delivery Manager for Energia Customer Solutions, said solar is becoming a bigger part of how Irish firms manage their energy needs. The companies note that increasing regulatory requirements on energy reporting are strengthening the case for solar PV with monitoring. Businesses adopting the new service may qualify for the SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG), which subsidises the installation of solar panels on commercial sites.

The grant supports systems from 1 kWp up to 1,000 kWp, with tiered funding and a maximum award of €162,600 for the largest arrays. Ohk Energy works with clients on funding alignment, system sizing and consumption analysis before submitting applications, aiming to ensure systems perform well beyond installation.
