Water is returning to homes and businesses in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge and surrounding areas after Uisce Éireann crews fixed a major burst on a water main on the R148 Maynooth Road outside Leixlip.

The utility said specialist teams carried out extensive works around the clock to restore normal supply as quickly and safely as possible.

Eoghan Forristal, Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann, said: "We understand the frustration for customers following a second burst in the area in the space of one week and apologise for the disruption caused. We know that losing your water supply can be difficult and disruptive for families, businesses and communities, and we are very grateful to everyone affected for their patience and understanding while repairs were carried out."

He added: "We are pleased to have supply returning, and we appreciate the efforts people made to conserve water while repairs were underway. Community support and cooperation made a real difference."

Customers may experience lower than normal pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent supply for a short period while the network refills. This is expected to improve as the system stabilises. Teams will continue to monitor the network closely to ensure service returns to normal across all affected areas.
