Mayo Council Proposes Temporary Closure Of Church Road/Bonnifinglas Road (L-1321) For Phase 2

Mayo County Council has issued a notice of its intention to temporarily close part of Church Road / Bonnifinglas Road (L-1321) to facilitate cable duct installation for the North Connaught 110kV Interconnector Project.

The proposed closure covers a section of Church Road (L-1321) between the L1324 Corradrishy to Boyhollagh Road and the N26 Foxford to Swinford Road.

The closure is scheduled from 7:30am on Monday 2nd November 2026 until 6:00pm on Friday 2nd April 2027.

Diversion routes: Plans of the proposed diversions are available to view online, including:

- Plan 1 – Diversion Route Overview

- Plan 2 – Main Diversion Route through Ballina

- Plan 3 – Local Traffic Diversion Route

Entry to homes and properties within the closure area will be maintained where possible.

While the advertised periods for Phase 1 and Phase 2 overlap (Phase 1 remains in place until 27th November 2026 and Phase 2 begins on 2nd November 2026) to align with construction scheduling and progress, only one section of Church Road will be closed at any one time.
