Early public engagement on the Newry Inner City Greenway Active Travel Signature Scheme will begin on 8 October 2026, the Department for Infrastructure has confirmed.
Announcing the move, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said: "This signature active travel scheme aims to improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists through Newry by providing safer, more accessible and attractive active travel infrastructure, linking communities with key destinations and encouraging healthier and more sustainable travel choices." "My Department is keen to understand any opportunities and local issues and I would encourage people to give their views and help shape the future development of the scheme."
Details of the proposals can be viewed online on the Department's website or at a drop-in event at Newry Leisure Centre, 60 Cecil Street, Newry, BT35 6AU, from 1pm to 7pm on Thursday 8 October 2026.
