Uisce Éireann is set to strengthen Ballybeg’s water supply with a major upgrade to the local network, replacing approximately 1.1km of ageing mains along Ballybeg Drive, from the roundabout to Ballybeg Stores.
Work is due to start in October and is designed to cut leaks and bursts, improve reliability for customers and support future growth in the area.
The existing pipes have become increasingly prone to bursts and leakage, leading to occasional supply interruptions and the loss of treated drinking water. By renewing these mains now, Uisce Éireann aims to protect a valuable resource while delivering a more resilient service for homes and businesses.
Dave Murphy of Uisce Éireann said: "Reliable water services are something people should be able to depend on every day without having to think about them. These works in Ballybeg will help reduce leaks, minimise future disruptions and provide a stronger water network for the community."
As part of the project, new water service connections will be installed from the public main to customers’ property boundaries, linking homes and businesses to the upgraded network.
The scheme is being delivered by Shareridge Ltd. on behalf of Uisce Éireann and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
