Limerick City and County Council has signed a €1,299,891.20 (excluding VAT) contract with JF Flynn Construction Ltd to deliver four social housing units at Radharc an Ghleanna, Mountcollins, Co. Limerick, with work due to begin shortly and completion targeted for Q4 2027.
The scheme comprises two two-bedroom and two three-bedroom homes, intended to provide high-quality, secure and sustainable accommodation for individuals and families with an identified housing need in the area. It represents a further step in delivering new homes in rural communities across Limerick.
Part of the Council's Social Housing Delivery Programme, the project is funded under the Social Housing Investment Programme (SHIP). Departmental Stage 4 approval has been secured, and JF Flynn Construction Ltd has been appointed as Contractor and Project Supervisor Construction Stage.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, welcomed the new development: "Providing more social homes for people and families all the way across Limerick remains one of our key priorities. Yesterday, for example, I signed the Part 8 planning application to ask councillors approval to convert the former Garda station in Shanagolden into three new homes. Today we sign this contract which is welcome news for Mountcollins. These high-quality homes will make a real difference to the lives of their future residents and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing sustainable housing solutions in rural areas. I look forward to seeing this development progress and to welcoming the new residents to Mountcollins in the years ahead."
Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr. Tom Ruddle, added: "I am delighted to see this investment being made in Mountcollins and wish the project team every success as construction gets underway. Limerick City and County Council is committed to increasing housing supply and ensuring that home ownership is within reach for more people."
