The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, and Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, marked a key milestone in west Dublin's housing delivery at the topping out of Cherry Orchard Point in Dublin 10.
They were joined on site by representatives of the Land Development Agency (LDA), Dublin City Council (DCC) and construction partner John Sisk & Son Ltd.
Phase 1A has now reached roof level across five buildings and will provide 389 apartments. Construction is on schedule, with the first homes due to complete in 2027.
Across the first phase, the scheme will deliver 708 A-rated apartments featuring heat pump systems and solar panels, with each home benefiting from a private balcony or terrace.
The project also includes a new public park, community, cultural and arts spaces, commercial and retail units, a supermarket and a crèche.
In full, the wider Cherry Orchard Point development is set to provide approximately 1,200 homes alongside landscaped open spaces, including a plaza, multipurpose amenity lawn, outdoor fitness trail, multi-use games area and a playground.
A network of parks and civic spaces will be linked by tree-lined streets, and the site is well served by public transport. It sits beside Park West Avenue and Park West & Cherry Orchard Railway Station, close to the M50 and within easy reach of major employers, including those at Park West Business Park.
The development, on Dublin City Council-owned land, is part of the broader regeneration of the Park West–Cherry Orchard area and is designed to integrate with nearby initiatives, including the planned redevelopment of Cherry Orchard Park to create a new sports hub and a village hub opposite St Ultan's School.
Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Daryl Barron said: "This marks an important milestone for Cherry Orchard Point and the wider Cherry Orchard community.
"The delivery of new homes alongside community facilities and high-quality public spaces will make a real difference to the area and provide a strong foundation for a new neighbourhood.
"It is encouraging to see the development progressing at such pace, and I look forward to seeing people move into these homes and make use of the amenities once completed."
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD said: "This is a serious milestone in the delivery of these new homes at Cherry Orchard Point. This first phase will deliver 708 A rated high-quality apartments.
"The project also includes a public park space, community and arts space, and a crèche, all so important to the people and their families who will grow up and grow old here over the course of their lives. That's what I want to see.
"Here we have another example of the momentum that can be achieved when we connect Government funding and a trusted delivery partner in the Land Development Agency with the local authority to get shovels in the ground.
"We are now driving on at the fastest pace in Europe when it comes to home building. We are investing significant public money and rightly so, and we are seeing an uptick across planning permissions, commencements and completions. This is the momentum we have to see in order to tackle the housing shortage, and I am being relentless in getting this right."
