Uisce Éireann has begun an €11 million project to enhance wastewater services in Midleton, paving the way for the delivery of more than 3,000 new homes and supporting sustainable local growth.
Part of Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development Programme, the scheme includes a new Wastewater Pumping Station (WWPS) at the existing Bailick WWPS site and the installation of 1.9km of new wastewater pipeline.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, welcomed the start of the works. "We welcome the commencement of this project that will support the development of much needed housing. Continued investment in wastewater infrastructure is essential to facilitating housing delivery and to the overall development of cities and towns throughout Ireland. The increased funding that we have allocated to Uisce Éireann will accelerate the delivery of the necessary infrastructure to support the development of new homes across the country."
Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, Ciaran Ryan, said the initiative would be a major boost for the area. “This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including vital, planned residential development.
The project will be delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd., with completion expected in early 2028.
