Dublin City Council has opened 26 new social homes on York Road in Dublin 4, delivered in partnership with QCC Properties and funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The scheme was launched by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daryl Barron, in the presence of the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O'Callaghan TD, alongside public representatives, Council officials and residents.
Developed by QCC Properties, the A-rated apartments comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes designed for sustainable, comfortable, modern living with a strong focus on fostering community.
Located close to Ringsend Park and Ringsend Library, the development benefits from access to green space and community facilities, as well as the cultural and recreational amenities of the Grand Canal Dock area. Excellent public transport connections provide convenient links to the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods, supporting access to employment, education and services.
The homes are fully occupied, with new residents settling in and community ties beginning to take shape.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Daryl Barron said: "The official opening of this development here in along York Road marks another important milestone in our ongoing work to deliver inclusive, sustainable housing across Dublin City. These 26 high-quality, secure homes will make a lasting difference to the families and individuals who now call this place home. This project reflects our shared commitment to building vibrant, well-connected communities, and stands as a testament to what can be achieved through strong partnership between Dublin City Council and the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage."
Mick Mulhern, Dublin City Council, Assistant Chief Executive said: "I'm delighted to mark the official opening of this fantastic new housing development on York Road. This development will add significantly to what is an already thriving community and will provide much needed new social homes for our citizens. I would like to thank the Minister for Housing James Browne TD, the officials in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and QCC Properties for working with us on this project. Finally, I would like to extend my best wishes to all the new residents as they embark on this exciting new chapter in their new homes."
Chairperson of the Housing & Social Inclusion Strategic Policy Committee, Cllr. Deirdre Heney said: "The delivery of these 26 new social homes has been made possible through Dublin City Council's active engagement with the private sector, creating opportunities to increase housing supply where it's needed most. Today's ceremony marks a key milestone and highlights Dublin City Council's ongoing commitment to working with partners to deliver quality social and affordable homes that support people, families, and communities across the city. I warmly wish the new residents every happiness and hope their new homes bring comfort, security, and a strong sense of place."
The York Road development forms part of the Council's wider efforts to expand social and affordable housing across Dublin through collaboration with Government and private partners.
