Órfhlaith Begley MP has hailed the Court of Appeal's decision relating to the upgrade of the A5 Western Transport Corridor.

The West Tyrone MP said: "The Court of Appeal's decision is very welcome and marks an important milestone for the A5 Western Transport Corridor project, and I hope it will help to move this vital project forward at pace.

"For far too long, families and communities have lived with the devastating consequences of a road that is not fit for purpose. Too many lives have been lost and too many people injured on the A5.

"These families have campaigned for change through the most unimaginable grief, and today we pay tribute to their courage and determination.

"Sinn Féin remains committed to delivering the A5 and, most importantly, delivering the safer road that families and communities across the North West deserve."
