£1.4 Million A4 Annaghilla Road Resurfacing To Begin In Augher

Construction News Image

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £1.4 million carriageway resurfacing programme on the A4 Annaghilla Road, Augher, will get under way on Saturday 17 October 2026. The scheme spans approximately 4.35 kilometres between the C0650 Feddan Road and the U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction).

She said: "This is a substantial investment of £1.4million in the A4 trunk route between Ballygawley and Augher which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To deliver the works safely, temporary traffic management will operate from 17 October to 16 November 2026. A westbound lane closure on the A4 Annaghilla Road, from its junction with the C0650 Feddan Road to the C0651 Annaghilla Road (east junction), will run from 5.00am on Saturday 17 October until 5.00am on Saturday 24 October 2026. During this period, westbound traffic will be diverted via the A5 Tullyvar Road, the B0128 Favour Royal Road and the B0128 Main Street, Augher.

A full road closure will also be in place on the A4 Annaghilla Road between the C0651 Annaghilla Road (east junction) and the C0651 Annaghilla Road (west junction) from 5.00am on Saturday 17 October until 5.00am on Saturday 24 October 2026. While this closure is active, eastbound traffic will be diverted via the C0651 Annaghilla Road, with westbound traffic using the A5 Tullyvar Road, B0128 Favour Royal Road and B0128 Main Street, Augher.

In addition, a weekend road closure will apply from the C0650 Feddan Road to the U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction) from 5.00am on Saturday 24 October until 6.00am on Monday 26 October 2026. During this closure, westbound traffic will be diverted via the A5 Tullyvar Road and the B0128 Favour Royal Road/Main Street, Augher, with the same routes applying in reverse for eastbound vehicles. HGVs will be routed via the A5 from Ballygawley to Omagh and the A32 through Dromore and Irvinestown to Enniskillen, and vice versa.

Temporary speed limits will also be in force from Saturday 17 October to Monday 16 November 2026: 40mph on the A4 Annaghilla Road between the U0419 Annaloughan Road (west junction) and the C0650 Feddan Road, and across the entire length of the C0651 Annaghilla Road; and 50mph on the A4 Dual Carriageway from a point one mile east of the new A5 Ballygawley Roundabout to its junction with the roundabout. Further overnight and weekend closures for the week commencing Monday 26 October 2026 onwards will be notified via the TrafficWatchNI portal, subject to weather. All affected roads will remain closed overnight during the closure periods, with signage in place to mark diversions and restrictions.

The Department has scheduled the work and traffic management to reduce disruption as far as possible, but some delays are expected. Road users should allow extra time for journeys in the area and follow all temporary restrictions. Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially completed by 16 November 2026.
