Uisce Éireann is set to begin works to renew old and damaged water mains in Kilbeggan, aiming to deliver a more dependable supply for the community.
On the Dublin Road between Inver filling station and Scoil an Chlochair, and from Coola Mill along the R389 through Main Street and Tullamore Road towards Seber House B&B, crews will lay 2.8 kilometres of modern pipework to strengthen the local network and reduce service interruptions for homes and businesses.
The existing infrastructure has been prone to bursts and leaks, causing outages and wasting treated drinking water.
Welcoming the scheme, Dave Murphy of Uisce Éireann said: "Every pipe we replace is guided by one clear goal: providing a water supply people can count on. These improvements make a difference every single day, in every tap, home and throughout the community. By focusing on delivering a more reliable supply, we’re helping to build a stronger, more resilient water service for the people of Kilbeggan, now and for generations to come."
Works are scheduled to start at the beginning of November and will include installing new service connections from the public main in the roadway to customers’ property boundaries.
Shareridge will deliver the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected by the end of April 2027.
