A £790k programme to address flooding issues in Strabane's Ballycolman Estate will begin on Monday 19 October 2026, the Infrastructure Minister has confirmed.
The works will deliver a new carriageway drainage system, a storm water storage facility and resurfacing of the affected roads to improve resilience and protect properties and infrastructure.
Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment of £790k for the Strabane area and the Ballycolman Estate where flooding has been an issue for some residents in the past. This investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network and developing a more resilient drainage system to protect local homes and other built infrastructure from the negative impacts of flooding. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To enable safe delivery of the scheme, road and lane closures will be required at times. The public is asked to follow all temporary traffic restrictions and signage, and to drive with extra care near the works.
The Department will schedule operations and traffic management to reduce disruption, and while local access will be facilitated where possible, road users should expect some delays and allow additional time for journeys. Please comply with all temporary measures in place.
Subject to favourable weather, the project is expected to be substantially complete by 31 March 2027. The Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
