A major water infrastructure scheme to enable future housing in Sligo Town is set to begin in Summerhill this month, Uisce Éireann has announced.
The investment will expand capacity in the local water network, supporting new homes and sustainable growth in one of the town’s key development zones.
Works will see the installation of almost 1km of new water main along Caltragh Road and Circular Road, stretching from the Crozon Roundabout to Summerhill College.
Delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans, the project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2027. To reduce disruption, construction will proceed in short sections with traffic management in place where necessary. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times, with work taking place between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.
The scheme is part of Uisce Éireann's Accelerated Growth Programme, which delivers key water and wastewater infrastructure in areas earmarked for development, ensuring the network has the capacity to meet future demand.
