An Irish consortium has been chosen to build the €200 million U2 Tower in Dublin’s docklands.
The property, which is due to be completed in 2011, will be constructed by Geranger, a consortium of Ballymore Properties, Patrick McKillen and August Partners (U2 Band members and management) has been selected as the provisional preferred bidder to design, construct and finance the Tower.
The U2 Tower, which will include a hotel and residential and retail areas, as well as a recording studio, has been described by the Dublin Docklands Authority chief executive as "breathtaking and spectacular".
Director of Architecture for the Docklands Authority, John McLaughlin, also said Geranger members bring a wealth of experience in delivering tall buildings across the UK and further afield.
