Convenience food and malt manufacturer Greencore plan to build a €50 million retail development at Athy in County Kildare.
Plans submitted for the group’s first retail project are for a mixed retail and office park on the 40-acre site adjacent to the group's Irish Maltings.
Phase one of the development, named Athy West, will be a district retail centre with a 5,000 sq metre supermarket and five other units.
Group Property Director, Maurice Fitzgerald, said: "It's early days yet. The second planning application was just lodged on Monday."
Greencore has sites in four countries of the European Union employing some 8,000 people. Its foods are supplied to the majority of UK and Irish retailers as well as to manufacturing and foodservice customers.
