A grant of €1.88 million has been sanctioned to carry out works on the main pier on Inishbofin, County Galway. These works are badly needed to make the pier safer, and to ensure its future condition.

Dáil Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuíd, said: "These improvements will increase the sustainability of the island in general. The provision of safer facilities for ferries, cargo and fishing boats and leisure craft of all types will greatly improve access to the island."
