Construction employers confidence has reached a five year low according to a survey by the Social Research Institute (ESRI) and FAS (Ireland's National Training and Employment Authority).

Last month the net employment expectation indicator for the construction sector was down 25 per cent meaning the proportion of employers expecting to shed jobs was 25 per cent higher than the proportion expecting to increase their workforce.

Construction is not the only sector facing difficulties with the net employment figure for all sectors averaging at minus 11 per cent.
