€1.45m Funding Allocated For Waterpoint In Enniscrone

The announcement by Failte Ireland that funding of over €1.45m has been allocated to Waterpoint, Enniscrone has been welcomed by the local community.

Declan Breen, Director of Services, Sligo County Council and Executive Director of Enniscrone Leisure Ltd, said: "This substantial funding is a major boost for everyone associated with the Waterpoint facility, and is in line with the commitment we were given by the former Minister for Arts, Sport & Tourism, John O’Donoghue."


Mr Breen confirmed that the grant is in respect of the major phase 2 developments at the facility, which has seen the provision of state of the art spa and treatment rooms, all weather playing surface and new playground.

"In terms of the local economy, this investment has enormous potential for creating direct and indirect employment in Enniscrone," he said.

The Waterpoint Leisure complex has received numerous accolades and awards since it opened in 1998. It was awarded the Evian White Flag Award, an appreciation Award from the Evening Herald, and its high standard of customer service was acknowledged with the presentation of the FAS sponsored ‘Excellence Through People' Award.
