Construction staff involved in the renovation of a Dublin hotel have held a protest over alleged "ongoing exploitation and abuse of workers".
The Building and Allied Trades Union (BATU) said some of its members working on the Westbury Hotel refurbishment have suffered underpayment, illegal deductions from their wages as well as non-payment of their pensions.
Spokesman for BATU, Tom Fitzgerald, said that those who have spoken out about the conditions have been advised by Dimension Shopfitting that their contracts would be terminated.
He claimed: "They have been victimised because they have defended trade union rates of pay and conditions."
BATU also said it believes it is the responsibility of the hotel management to attempt to resolve the issue.
Around 30 construction workers are involved in the demonstration at the main entrance to the hotel off Grafton Street.
