Construction Sector Employment Drops

New figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) have shown employment in construction firms has fallen since 6.4% from last year.

The CSO’s construction employment index has been falling since April of last year, but December’s drop was the steepest so far.

The figures released cover all building companies with five or more workers.

Separate figures from the CSO also show average earnings for public service workers rose by 4% in the year to September. This brings the average weekly wage to €918.31.
