Training To Target Costs To Profitability

Irish contractors can spend up to 35% of the company turnover on the buying of materials and services, according to Irish consultancy specialists Donnelly CCT.

The firm claims that without the use stringent purchasing controls this spend can result in a direct cost to profitability. Additionally, material waste can often eat further into potential profits.

In light of these statistics, Donnelly CCT have announced a new series of courses for the construction industry - from purchasing management to construction waste controls.

The training courses offer construction staff the foundations to Construction Management Systems, Negotiation skills, Supplier management techniques, Procedures to measure effectiveness of construction companies, Forms and Records for Buyers, Site Managers course on effective site cost control, Legal aspects of Construction Industry buying, Construction Waste Prevention Controls and finally Computerising the construction firm - all applicable to the €36 billion Irish Construction Industry.

Construction staff, site management, new buyers, quantity surveyors, sub-contractors and suppliers are all advised to attend the courses.

Speakers and course tutors will include John Donnelly MIIPMM, who brings with him a wealth of experience added to his almost thirty years as Purchasing Manager with P.J.Walls Ltd one of Ireland's top construction companies. Additionally Robert Goode of RGC Technologies will lead the Computerisation section.

Delegates will gain a full appreciation of the importance of these issues to enable them to consider the introduction of controls into the construction management to reduce costs and increase profits by up to 70%.
