Planning permission has been granted for a new Emergency Department at Letterkenny General Hospital.
Permission has now been given to proceed with building the new emergency department, with an integrated Medical Assessment Unit and three new medical wards on the floors above.
Senator Cecilia Keaveney has welcomed the news, she said: "This facility will provide a state-of-the-art Emergency Department for the people of Donegal. Most of the wards will be single room facilities, which will help with the control of infection within the hospital also."
"This is a long awaited facility and I hope that work can commence on the development without delay," she concluded.
