The scheme is required to provide an extended lifespan of the carriageway surface on this busy section of road.
The Department for Regional Development said every effort will be made to minimise disruption to traffic by restricting works at peak hours, through suitable traffic diversions, and by minimising the length of road affected at any time. However, there will be delays to traffic and journeys should be planned accordingly making use of alternative routes where possible.

During certain stages of the scheme, traffic will be diverted via Toome Village outside peak periods. Where it is appropriate, full carriageway closures of the By-Pass will speed up progress when executing the work and reduce the overall time required to undertake the work.
