The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) has been announced as the host for this year's leading European construction conference.
FIEC, the European Construction Federation, has selected Dublin as the venue for its prestigious annual congress and conference, with events taking place over the weekend 19 to 21 June.
The showcase of the event is a one-day conference focusing on the theme of energy efficiency, entitled 'Energy Efficiency: A Dysfunctional Market – Challenges and Opportunities', which takes place on Friday 20 June at Dublin Castle.
Conference speakers will include, Professor Owen Lewis, Professor of Architectural Science and Director of the UCD Energy Research Group; Dr J. C. Terlouw, President of the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands and President of the Dutch Platform for Energy Transition in the Built Environment; Alfonso Gonzales Finat, Director for New and Renewable Sources of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Innovation within the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport; and Jacques de Meester, Vice President of the Belgian Building Research Institute and Vice-President of the Brussels Regional development Agency.
Minister John Gormley Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, will also address the conference, while current Táiniste, Minister for Finance and incoming Taoiseach, Minister Brian Cowen will officiate at the Official Opening of the FIEC Congress and Conference.
On Thursday 19 June the FIEC Annual Congress will take place with leading construction representatives from 30 European countries attending and will set the European construction industry’s policy agenda for the coming 12 months.
