Latest figures from the Central Bank show the first quarter of 2008 has been the slowest start to a year for residential mortgages in five years.
Growth is at it’s lowest in 16 years and the bank says the total amount owed on residential mortgages increased by 11.6% in the 12 months to March of this year.
This is the lowest annual increase since May 1992.
