NECI has become the largest representative body for Irish electrical contractors.
Following a number of Dublin county meetings, support for the newly formed NECI (National Electrical Contractors Ireland) has now exceeded the combined totals of all other Irish Electrical Trade Associations.
The county meetings will continue over the next few months, and NECI has said it expects supporters to exceed 1,000 companies before October.
The new NECI website has received in excess of 2,000 hits per day, and contains almost daily updates on events relevant to NECI supporters.
While there is a Steering Committee in place at the moment, it is expected that a meeting will be held before the end of the year to elect a formal committee to run the organisation.
The new organisation has said it is fully committed to giving a voice to Irish Electrical Contractors when changes, that have a direct effect on their businesses, are implemented.
The main challenge for the committee is to orchestrate talks about pay and conditions.
Employers at previous talks have only represented 10% of the Industry.
NECI will also seek a meeting with NSAI to determine the impact to their members of possible changes to Fire Alarm and Emergency Lighting Installations.
