James Tanner (58), Dunboe Road, Castlerock was fined a total of £800 at North Antrim Magistrates' court on Friday 1 August for breaches of waste management legislation.
On 18 August 2005, in response to complaints of unauthorised waste disposal, officers from the Environment and Heritage Service (now the Northern Ireland Environment Agency) visited a site at Magheralane Road, Ballymena, where they witnessed the disposal of controlled waste consisting of clay, soil and demolition waste.
An investigation by the Construction Contractor Monitoring (CCM) established the waste material originated from the demolition site of the former Camphill Primary School, Toome Road, Ballymena.
No waste management licence or exemption was in force. Mr Tanner pleaded guilty and was fined £100 on eight waste charges, plus court costs of £100.
