Irish renewable energy projects are to be given a multi-million euro boost, from a leading London environment fund group.
EEA, who advises global organisations - such as Trading Emissions PLC and Leaf Clean Energy Company - is said to be holding negotiations regarding two proposed wind farms and a biomass project in the Republic.
Director of the EEA subsidiary Equity and Environmental Assets, Norbert Gallagher, said: "We are greatly interested in Irish renewable energy projects.
"We see tremendous scope for renewable energy in Ireland, harnessing natural resources such as wind and biomass, which provides an excellent fit with the expertise we have.
"I anticipate significant investment," he said.
The group have a long history of providing support to firms undertaking the procurement of carbon credits, dubbed Certified Emission Reductions (CERs).
Investment in clean energy projects, in developing countries, can secure CERs, as part of the Clean Development Mechanism, allowing carbon credits to be offset against desired emission targets.
EEA's investment is reportedly worth in the region of tens of millions.
