Cork city is bracing itself for major traffic delays today, as the Lower Road remains closed.
The closure is the result of a fallen quay wall between the Skew Bridge and Water Street junction.
Diversions have been put in place, as police continue to control traffic flow in the area.
Motorists have been advised to divert either through the Jack Lynch Tunnel or the North Ring Road.
Motorists have also been warned by AA Roadwatch to allow extra time for journeys in the area.
This morning traffic was slowing southbound through the tunnel from the Dunkettle side.
