It is believed the Office of Public Works has approached Fingal Council regarding a site at Seatown Road, close to a residential area, school and council staff car park.
According to reports, should the sale goes ahead, a new courthouse and garda station will be constructed on the land.
A Courts Service spokesperson told the Fingal Independent: "The Office of Public Works is in ongoing discussions with Fingal County Council regarding the possible acquisition of a site in Swords for a new courthouse and a garda station."

A spokesman for the council said he was unable to confirm whether the purchase would go ahead, given the current economic climate.
However, he revealed consultations were taking place regarding the site, though it's understood they are at a very early stage.
It was originally thought the site had been earmarked for a large retail development, but this was later rejected due to wrangling with local landowners.
One local resident has already voiced concerns over the proposed courthouse and police station scheme, claiming the road is already over crowded.
She said more building in the area would only make this problem worse.
