The Environment and Heritage Service has announced plans to carry out the Second Survey of Historic Buildings in the Omagh district.
The survey, which was commenced in January of this year is due for completion by the end of April 2009.
The Second Survey of buildings of Architectural and Historic Interest involves detailed recording of the exteriors and interiors of the most interesting buildings in the Omagh District Council area.
It includes not only a review of the existing listed buildings to ensure that they still meet the criteria for listing, but also considers any additional buildings which should be listed.
Following a recent presentation made by Environment and Heritage Service to councillors, the Chairman Councillor Martin McColgan commended the work of EHS in undertaking the Second Survey and welcomed it as an important project to "protect, conserve and promote the natural and built environment for the benefit of present and future generations".
