A new 6,000 seater stadium will be officially opened in South Dublin later this week.
County Mayor Marie Corr will officiate the ceremony at the new Tallaght Stadium on Friday.
The unveiling will be marked with a League of Ireland match between Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers, which will be televised live by RTE.
This new stadium will house 3,000 spectators initially and will house 6,000 spectators when fully complete.
South Dublin County Council has entered into agreement with Shamrock Rovers Football Club whereby they will have use of Tallaght Stadium for their home games in the League and Cup Championships.
A spokesman for the council said: "This is a great opportunity for the people of South Dublin County to see regular League of Ireland football on their doorstep and it is anticipated that this will provide a great focus among our young aspiring sports boys and girls,
"South Dublin County Council will explore every opportunity to maximize the use of Tallaght Stadium," he added.
