Laois Council has announced plans to improve the county's road network, as part of its Bituminous Surfacing 2009 scheme.
The council invited tenders to bid for the works which will require a clause of 804 35,000 tonne; Stabilised Wet Mix of 1,000 tonne; DBM Bindercourse 1,000 tonne; CGBMSurface Course 1,000 tonne; DBM Regulating 1,500 tonne; 30% HRA 1,500 tonne and Thin Surfacing 1000 tonne.
The bidding process has now closed for the works.
Meanwhile, Leitrim County Council has invited tenders to bid for a rural housing scheme.
The contract is to construction a rural house at Tawly Td., Tullaghan, Co. Leitrim.
A council spokesman said the New Public Works Contract (Short Public Works Contract) is being used.
