£1.8m Contracts For NI Engineering Firm

Construction News Image
A Toomebridge electrical engineering firm has secured contracts worth over £1.8m with some of the biggest names in UK retail.

CMM Electrics Ltd will deliver electrical installations to three Marks & Spencer stores, two B&Q stores and other leading high street retailers across Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

The company recently received support from Invest NI towards the development of key information systems, including payroll administration and customer relationship management which have streamlined the business and increased competitiveness.

This was complemented with support for an extensive export marketing plan specifically targeting GB and RoI, as well as the recruitment of a Senior Contracts Manager.

Conor McMeel, CMM Electrics Managing Director, said: "CMM Electrics is one of a small number of electrical engineering contractors approved to carry out work for blue-chip clients including M&S, B&Q and ASDA.

"In order to ensure we were in the most competitive position possible, we accessed support from Invest NI to assist with further improving key business systems. This, combined with additional marketing support has been instrumental in helping us raise our profile outside Northern Ireland and secure these lucrative new contracts," he said.

Mr McMeel added: "In addition, the appointment of a Senior Contracts Manager has strengthened our management team and allowed us to look at opportunities to become more competitive by sourcing materials at better rates, and to take forward the overall professional development of the business."

The company received support through Invest NI’s Growth Accelerator Programme (GAP), which offers companies fast access to assistance geared to increase export sales.

Gren Armstrong, Manager of Invest NI’s North East Office, said: "Invest NI offered support to enable the company to undertake a strategic review of its systems and processes, as well as rapidly develop its export capability in order to take advantage of market opportunities in GB and RoI. These contracts with major chains, including B&Q and M&S, are a resounding endorsement of the quality of CMM’s work.

"Invest NI is continuing to work with CMM to help the company expand its export reach and develop new business opportunities," he added.
