Tendering has closed on a massive regeneration scheme proposed for the Cranmore estate in Sligo.
Consultation has been on-going for some time between Cranmore residents and Sligo County Council's Regeneration Team towards vacating the centre block area of the estate.
With the vast majority of units now vacated, the Regeneration Team launched a competition for the appointment of a contractor to demolish these units, earlier this year.
Excluded from the contract were units on Devins Drive, currently occupied by the Regeneration Office, the Cranmore Community Co-operative Office together with a small number of other units throughout the block for which replacement units are not yet secured.
The closing date for receipt of tenders for the demolition contract was last week.
It is anticipated that demolition works will commence shortly afterwards.
