Irish Gas Firm Announces Commercial Price Cut

Construction News Image
Irish energy firm Flogas has announced plans to slash prices for business customers by 15%.

The Drogheda-based supplier said it intends to become a key player in the commercial natural gas market nationwide, and will offer businesses a 15% saving on the price currently charged by Bord Gais Energy Supply for its natural gas.

Flogas has also said that this percentage reduction will remain in place, even with the planned Bord Gais gas price reduction in May.

A leading LP Gas supplier to the commercial and residential sectors, Flogas entered the natural gas market following its deregulation several years ago and has been supplying natural gas via the existing Bord Gais Networks pipeline to over 11,000 homes in the North-East, Midlands and the West.

Flogas recently moved into the commercial market for natural gas and on a pilot basis, and has been recruiting businesses in the North-East, including Nature's Best.

Aside from central heating and hot water, natural gas is essential to the company's production process as it is used to run the key cooking and cleaning machines. Another recent high profile signing has been the Redbank House Hotel and Restaurant in Skerries.

Flogas is part of the energy division of DCC plc, which has significant interests in LP Gas and oil distribution in Ireland and the UK. Flogas currently employs 100 staff.

Richard Martin, managing director of Flogas Ireland, said: "In these cost-conscious times, it is good to see that our business customers have seen tangible benefits from the changeover to our natural gas service.

"Business customers switching to Flogas Natural Gas will save money by benefiting from a guaranteed 15% lower price than that charged by Bord Gais and this percentage saving will remain in place following their planned natural gas price reduction in May."
