NIHE Installs 2,600 New Boilers

Over 2,600 households across Northern Ireland have been making savings of up to £170 off their fuel bill after the Housing Executive installed oil condensing boilers.

The Housing Executive has teamed up with OFTEC, the body for registered professionals in the oil heating industry, to promote the fitting of efficient A or B boilers across all households in line with current regulations.

Noel Rice, the Housing Executive's Energy Efficiency Manager said: "Running an efficient boiler such as the condensing models is one of the best things you can do to save energy and cut your heating bills.


"We have always recognised the benefits of condensing boilers and have been installing these for our tenants since the change in Building Regulations in 2007," she said.

"Condensing boilers are normally fitted in homes using natural gas and as Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland, we are keen for both gas and oil users whenever they are fitting new boilers or replacing old boilers that they do so with the A or B rated standards."

David Blevings, from OFTEC said: "Modern condensing boilers have efficiency levels of 90% and when fitted with controls will ensure you get the maximum heat performance in your house.

"Oil condensing boilers are more efficient because they convert more fuel into the central heating system rather than pushing it outside."
