Work is to begin on the realignment of the R294 road in Sligo later this month, the county council has said.
Construction will take place between the townlands of Drumiskabole, Union and Ballygawley.
To facilitate the work, the council will close the R284 regional road Sligo to Ballygawley
The section of the R284 regional road to be closed is from the junction of the R284 and local road L36033 in Drumiskabole to a point 650m south of the junction of the R284 and local road L3604 (Ballisodare road) in Ballydawley.
Local Access will be provided to residents/landowners but not to 'through traffic'.
The road will be closed from Monday 27 April to Friday 17 July, inclusive.
The alternative route from Sligo to Ballygawley will be via the National Primary Road N4 to Collooney and via Regional Road R290 to Ballygawley.
