Ireland's Minister for Education Batt O'Keeffe has opened a €170,000 extension to Scoil Naisiúnta Baile Nua an Phobail in Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal.
The extension houses two new classrooms, a car park and an all-weather pitch.
"I commend the school's principal, James Doherty, teachers, parents, pupils and local community who've worked so hard to bring this project to completion," said the minister.
"The promotion of sport in a school is important because it fosters a sense of teamwork and fair play, skills which will benefit the children throughout their lives.
"This year, I'll spend over €600m on the school building programme across the country - a level of capital investment that reflects this Government's commitment to continuing the programme of sustained investment in primary and post-primary schools.
"This demonstrates the Government's commitment to investing in the productive capacity of the economy and to providing schoolchildren and teachers with the best educational environment in which to learn and work," added Minister O'Keeffe.
