Public consultation is to be held on a proposed bypass for Co Sligo.
The county council's Sligo and Environs Development Plan identified the need for a Western By-pass in Sligo city.
At meetings of Sligo County Council in May 2008 and November 2008 it was resolved that a Western/City Bypass should be located west of Second Sea Road.
"Following enquires from the public in relation to the implications of these resolutions it is proposed to hold public information sessions in relation to the most likely option for a route west of the Second Sea Road, and the impacts of this route," the council said.
The route is being designed as a dual carriageway with a bridge over the Strandhill Road in the vicinity of Cummeen Bridge.
It passes through the townlands of Oakfield, Ballydoogan, Barnasrahy, Rathonoragh, Cummeen, Knappaghmore and Finisklin.
Plans will be open to the public from next week.
