Resurfacing Works Begin On Portadown Road

Roads Service has started resurfacing work between Sleep Valley and the Stonebridge Roundabout.

The works will include new carriageway surfacing and improvements to the drainage and hard shoulders where necessary. It has been agreed to coordinate these works with improvements required to facilitate development at Fruitfield filling station. This cooperation will result in a significant reduction in the level of disruption to road users on this route and will result in an improved road layout at this location.

A one way road closure will be in place for the duration of the works to allow the works to be carried out effectively and to ensure the safety of site personnel and members of the travelling public. Traffic travelling on the A3 towards Portadown will be permitted to do so as normal albeit subject to a 40mph speed restriction. Traffic travelling on the A3 towards Armagh will be subject to road closure between Stonebridge Roundabout and Corcreevy Road with a diversion in place via the Legacorry Road, New Line, Main Street Richhill and Corcreevy Road. The speed restrictions and diversionary route will be signposted.

These works have been programmed to coincide with the reduced traffic volumes resulting from school holidays and the traffic arrangements will be in place for eight weeks until Sunday 9 September.

During the period of the road closure access will only be available to local residents and local businesses within the length of the closure from the Armagh direction or by following the diversion route. It should be appreciated that some delays can be expected while these road improvements are being carried out and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
