Fine Gael Senator for Dublin South West, Cáit Keane, has welcomed the news that the European Forum for Renewable Energy Sources (EUFORES), is to host a high level two day Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Dublin as an associated event of Ireland's EU Presidency on June 21st and 22nd this year.
"I am delighted to announce that EUFORES, the European parliamentary network for renewable energy and energy efficiency, with members from all major political groups in the European Parliament and members of National Parliaments, is to host a high-level conference on renewable energy as part of our EU Presidency in Dublin Castle in June. I have been liaising with Dr. Jan Geiss, Secretary General of EUFORES, over the past number of months to bring this conference to Ireland as an associated event of Ireland's EU Presidency.
"This conference will be a great opportunity to showcase Ireland as it will bring many delegates from all over the EU to Dublin for the weekend in question. Ireland has huge potential for renewable energy development in the coming years and the Government's core objective is to deliver a major increase in the pace, scale and depth of investment in upgrading existing facilities and to assist Ireland in meeting its 20% renewable and energy efficiency targets set by the European Union for 2020.
"This conference offers an opportunity for energy industry representatives, scientists and Parliamentarians to come together and share ideas about how Ireland can move forward and develop our potential in terms of job creation and in meeting our EU Renewable and Sustainable Energy Targets."
