A new surgical day unit has officially opened at Nenagh Hospital in County Tipperary.

The development includes two new operating theatres, a minor procedure room, theatre recovery area, a 10-bed surgical day ward, pre-operative assessment facilities, a discharge lounge and other surgical department support spaces at first floor level. A new canteen facility, for staff and members of the public, has also been developed at ground floor level.

The new theatres and the day ward have been operational for almost a year, providing surgical day services appropriate for Model 2 hospitals in line with government policy.
