New guidelines regarding the regulation of wind farms are expected to be unveiled shortly, it has been reported.
Speaking on RTÉ's The Week in Politics, Ged Nash, Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, said ministers Alex White and Alan Kelly had been working on the issue.
The current guidelines were initially published in 2006 and allows companies to construct turbines within 500m of private dwellings.
There has been criticism regarding the Government's failure to publish updated guidelines on the issue, with concerns particularly prevalent in rural areas. Communities are understood to have voiced concerns that the new guidelines are being delayed in order to allow plans for large wind farms to go ahead.
